Training and Support by Ted KnudsonI have been selling to cabinet shops, furniture manufactures, kitchen dealer,
the woodworking industry since 1970 and selling kitchen design software
beginning in 1988. I have sold Cabnetware, Cabinet Vision, 20/20, Pattern
Systems, DecoTech and Pro100. Almost every kind of training I have done.
When I started selling Cabnetware no one had a computer let alone knew anything
about computers. At that time we sold the software and computer. Our
first job was to show a customer how to turn on the computer and teach them what
a mouse and and keyboard were.

Some of the training methods I have used over the years.
- User learns on their own using manuals, slide shows, videos and other
self-help tools
- One on One training in the customers office.
- One on One training at my office
- Group Training in a conference room, customers would fly in for a couple of
days.
- One on One training using the phone.
- One on One training using instant messaging and email.
- One on One training using phone and remote computer control software like
Netmeeting, TeamViewer or GoToMyPC
Today with the internet and the telephone there is no need for all day
training sessions. I remember people paying $500 for a day of training
and because they paid a lot for training they would try so hard and want to
cover so much that by the end of the day I do not think they could remember
what they learned in the morning. Some were glassy eyed and punch drunk
from studying so hard.
For me the best way is the phone. You can learn at your pace.
I can give you a hour of training, then you call if you have a question.
Simple and very effective. You have the program running on your
computer and I have the same program running on my computer. I can
walk you trough almost any thing. If there is something real complicated
that you do not get we can use something like Netmeeting and TeamViewer. I can
see your computer and see what you are doing or I can take over your
computer and show you. Great tools and no need for either of us to
travel.
The best part of this approach is that you learn what you need to
learn when you need to learn it, instead of trying to learn everything
at one time. This is a lot less stressful for everyone. Also there a
lots of training videos on this web site. |
