Release history - Updates & Upgrades

Every release of Pro100 since it went on sale in the United States in January 2006, newest first. Updates are included with your licence and you can take them at any time; upgrades are a new version and are optional. If you are not sure which you are looking at, the difference is set out on the support page.

Running an older version? It keeps working. Nothing here switches off, and there is no subscription to lapse — your dongle is your licence. If you want to move up, ask us what the upgrade costs from the version you own. It is usually less than a new licence.

Updates or upgrades — which applies to you

An update is a patch to the version you already own. It fixes things, keeps the software current against security issues, and costs nothing. Take every one.

An upgrade is a new version with significant changes — the 64-bit move in 2022, version 7 in 2025. It is a purchase, usually discounted for existing licence holders, and it is optional. We think of it as an overhaul and it comes round every two to three years.

Both are explained in more detail on the support page, along with what is included when you buy.

What the recent releases brought

The last few versions have concentrated on the parts of the job that happen after the design is finished. Job costing came out of the 2019 pricing work; the cut list and panel optimizer feed the shop; and Kray rendering gave the photorealistic output that goes in front of a customer. The Shape Editor underpins the awkward geometry across all of it.

The full list of what the current version does is on the features pages, and the blog covers new releases as they land.

Before you upgrade

  • Check the system requirements — the 64-bit move in 6.40 changed them.
  • On a Mac, read the macOS page first.
  • Keep your current installer until the new version is running. Ask us if you need it sent again.
  • The return policy applies to upgrade purchases as well as new licences.
