What is a Cut List?
A cabinet cut list is a list of all parts required to develop a cabinet together with their measurements. It defines the parts of the wood or some other material that is needed to be measured before being processed or cut to the structure of a final cabinet that is to be manufactured.
Cut list software can help cabinet makers plan their projects more efficiently. It can generate accurate cut lists, which saves time and money by eliminating unnecessary cuts and ensuring that all parts fit together properly.
Additionally, it can be used to optimize the use of materials, which can help reduce waste and save money in the long run. Finally, this type of software often includes features such as 3D visualization and virtual assembly so that you can get a better idea of how the finished product will look before you actually start building it.
Who is this for?
The cut list feature is designed for cabinet makers and shops that build custom cabinets from scratch. If you work with ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinets, closets etcetera, this function may not apply to you.
Pro100 allows you to generate a cut list directly from your designs. To do this, first design your project. Next, assign a name to your cabinet under the "Advanced" menu by typing it within square brackets, like this: [Cabinet Name]. Finally, navigate to the "File" menu and select "Cut List" to generate the report.
The cut list is produced as a text file. For better readability and organization, we recommend opening this file with Microsoft Excel and saving it as a CSV. This format arranges the dimensions into clear columns and rows, making it easy to share with your team for cutting.
Pro100 Cut List
Pro100 will generate a text file cut list as shown below. This file can be saved as .CSV file and later opened with MS Excel. Data is easily read and can be imported into Cut List Plus. The cut list is capable of showing all the essential details needed to cut parts in your shop using a table saw.
The detailed cut list includes all the individual pieces of plywood needed to build a cabinet. The key elements includes:
- Parts name of the parts
- Quantity of the pieces
- Material type which normally indicates the type of sheet good used.
- Dimensions - Length, width and thickness of every piece.
How about Cabinet Hardware?
Since we cannot cut hardware in the shop, these parts can be skipped in the reports. Once you have your catalog setup, you can double click on individual cabinet hardware or a group such as hinges, drawer slides, knobs or handles, then navigate to the "Reports" tab. Here you will need to uncheck the parts list, cabinet list and material consumption as shown.
